Packing light?
Seriously, is there such a thing as packing light? I do not have the ability to do this! DH and I are leaving in a few days and I am trying really hard to 'pack light', but I dont know how!
I just laid out all these clothes on my bed and in my sick, twisted head I swear I need all of them. Yup. I'm that girl that says, "I know I've never worn that, but maybe, just maybe I will on vacation. Oh and all these shoes, yeah, I'm gonna need those too!"
Well, I already know how this is going to end:

Re: Packing light?
haha I am SO bad at this....the only time I'm good is when I actually sit down and make outfits and pack those...when I just start grabbing shirts and things it is overpack city!! I would suggest making actual outfits, and figure out how many of each type of outfit you need (beach, dinner, etc.) and pack 1 extra of each and be done with it!

Re: Packing light?
i am horrible with this too, i always prefer to have more options rather than planning outfits out for everyday. I know how i am and i cant plan from days ahead of time what i will wear, i will most likely change my mind or that day feel bloated and not want to wear what i had planned. So i bring way more than i need.

Me too! Everytime we go away even if its just a weekend, DH swears next time he will monitor my packing before allowing me out of the house.
I just can't do it...Pqcking light, what does that mean?

Re: Packing light?
i've mastered packing "light" ... well, my version of packing light means using my not-so-small-but-can-squeeze-it-in-the-overhead-bin-suitcase, filling it with the essentials and then cramming it to capacity with anything else i can fit in there
seriously though, assuming you have access to a washer/dryer, the best way to pack light is to pack a bunch of things that can be reworn multiple times... like a good pair of jeans, a cardigan, basic tops, etc. tops dont take that much space, so if you take a few bottoms you can squeeze in like 30 tops and it will still be "light"
my biggest problem is shoes. i had one week in NY before the wedding and then left directly for my honeymoon... i just unpacked and i must have had 15 pairs of shoes (partially bc i didnt have RD shoes yet so i brought a few options, and then bought a pair at the saks outlet)
i brought:
3 pairs espadrilles (orange, black, brown) 2 pairs dress shoes (pewter, blue) 1 pair leather pumps 1 pair leather flip flops 2 pairs of pool/beach flip flops 2 pairs of bride flip flops (gifts) 1 new pair of pumps i bought for RD 1 pair of sneakers for honeymoon im sure there was more...
if you can pare down the shoes, you're golden!
