Fall Brides - Where are you taking your wedding pics?
I don't want to pay a fee, but I want a really nice place with lots of trees for the whole fall/leaf look. Where are you girls taking pics?
Also, our Mass isn't ending til at least 3pm. That leaves us such limited daylight hours. Anyone know approx what time the sun sets in October? I'm thinking like 530ish, right?

we're taking pictures at st. john's university since we met there- is there any place that has special meaning to you & your fh that would be nice for pictures? I think the sunsets around 5:30-6:00ish in the fall

For 10/11, the sunset is at 7:29 pm, so you definitely have time. We are taking our pics at Avalon park in Stony Brook.

Thanks Laura!! I thought that 5:30 was kinda early!! It doesn't get dark that early until winter!

We are taking our pictures at our reception hall (Giorgio's). It has the beach on one side and the golf course on the other! My photographer said if we miss sunset he can make us one :)

I totally forgot to think about the whole Daylight Savings Time when booking! Of course I thought about not wanting to book during the end of baseball season with playoffs, the World Series, etc. But didn't once think about how it's going to be dark out when my ceremony ends!
For those having later ceremonies in the fall when it'll be dark out, what do you plan on doing for pics - indoor or outdoors?

I don't mind having the photos indoors (it'll be easier and better lighting), but I am thinking of maybe taking a couple of quick photos of me and FH only at Astoria Park directly after the ceremony.
The church is a 5 minute drive (and straight line) away from Astoria Park, and we might be able to get some pretty shots of the Manhattan skyline at night.
But I have to think about the timeline a bit more carefully before I comitt to this because I don't want to pay overtime for the limo if it's just for a couple of nightime shots.

i dont think any parking fees are charged after Labor day weekend-if there are then not after 4 pm.

We are just using the sand castle...not many options. On my day sun sets at 4:26 approx. They said they could do us outside but to hard to do everyone as a group.
We could pay $300- for Old Westbury manor..but not doing it.

You definitely want to have a backup just in case it rains. We're only doing pics at the church and our RH. There are so many places for us to take pics at our RH!

FH and I are taking pictures at Hofstra University b/c we met there and he took me back there to get engaged!!!!!! I can not wait!!!!!
We have to have our mass at 1:30 b/c the sun will set at around 4:30 on my wedding day.

We're lucky. As long as there isn't rain our hall has a "garden" outside on the water with gazebos. So, we'll be taking pictures there
