wedding depression

so i am getting to the one year mark and i am getting seriously depressed. i was cleaning and found all of my wedding "do it yourself" stuff and the weather is starting to change and it is all reminding me of a year ago when i was preparing for the happiest day of my life. and i cant believe it has been a year already! i want to be a bride again!!! i miss the planning and excitement! anyone else feel this way?

Re: wedding depression

I have since planned a wedding, a baby shower, a 60th birthday, and I'm hoping to have an engaged sister and 2 more showers to plan.

Just keep encouraging people to have kids. Then offer to make invitations, thank you cards, and favors. It softens the blow.

Re: wedding depression

I sometimes feel that way too, I can't believe my 1 year is in 13 days. I'm more sad though that our first year has gone so fast...we did have fun going on several trips but I just thought it would be different. More fun and less house work I guess!

Date twins,
Ok so I know our anniversary is on the 2nd of course, which is a Tuesday this year, but don't you also kind of feel that Labor Day weekend in general is your anniversary too? I'm having anniversary identity crisis haha

Re: wedding depression

I am not sure if it is depression.. it is just that I got soo wrapped up in the process for a year that I was on overload and learned how to be a great multi tasker under stress and time restrictions. Now I am not sure what to do b/c of it... I learned I think I need like a real intense job

ITA... I need to be busy at all times and if I am not ... it get's boring. I do miss being a bride and doing things that were lighter in life. But life has a lot of great things in store for all of us, they are yet to come.

that's a good outlook. as a compromise for missing the planning i have sort of extended the wedding by playing with the digital proofs from the photog. I now have all sorts of slideshows made into dvd's - - given to the wedding party. one of which is in my video lib and also playing with doing composite pics - - I call montages. also given to the wedding party.

thinking it might be a niche as a wedding business. but that thought passes quickly and I go back to being retired.

Re: wedding depression

I have my friends' weddings, now, so no depression for me yet.
But I know what you mean. It's nice to plan for the big day, even if it is so much work
