Mexico - "The Revenge?"
We've recently read a lot of nice things about Mexico, but we're a little concerned about Montazuma's (sp?) Revenge. Something like that could probably ruin an entire trip!
Any thoughts or experiences from people who have been there...? Tia :)

Re: Mexico - "The Revenge?"
we stayed at a resort when we went and had no problems. the resort had purified/filtered tap water and bottled water. We avoided drinking or eating anything outside of the resort though, except at theme parks, but never at small local restaurants. If we went anywhere we brought bottled water from the hotel. Just be careful and you should be fine.

Re: Mexico - "The Revenge?"
Been there for our honeymoon, no problems at all!!! Just dont drink the water....it doesnt happen that much as it did in the past. Most hotels have their own filtration system and have bottled water You will be fine

Re: Mexico - "The Revenge?"
Been there twice and no problems. As long as you are in touristy areas you do';t have to worry and if you move out of these areas make sure to drink only bottled water.

been twice, got it once. I wound up in the ER & was sick for WEEKS.
What got me was the fresh fruit... no one ever warns you about eating that!
Ugh...everyone was giving me hope until THIS post :(
Getting sick for weeks is pretty scary...
Thanks for everyone's answers :)

Re: Mexico - "The Revenge?"
We went on our HM in May and everything was fine. The hotel had filtered water and even when we went outside of the hotel, I had water from a restaurant and I drank all my drinks with ice. DH and I were perfectly fine. I say dont stress yourself over that.

Re: Mexico - "The Revenge?"
I could be wrong but I think that if you stay in a hotel where they purify then you're pretty much free to eat and drink whatever you want. The thing to look for is a hole in the ice cubes. That means the place purifies their water. I've been to Mexico once and I was a complete basket case in the beginning of the week but by the end of the trip, I was eating and drinking everything and I was fine. Like people said, just don't go to the small, side of the road places. Stick with the big hotels and restaurants that cater to tourists.

Re: Mexico - "The Revenge?"
I've been to Mexico three times, each time to a different resort in a different place. Never had a problem, and even got adventurous and strayed from the bottled water at times. I definitely would not let this influence your decision.

Re: Mexico - "The Revenge?"
me and the fh went there 2 years ago, and we were fine. The resort we stayed at had bottled water in the room, and in the resturants. one of the first things they told us once arriving to the resort was not to drink the water. i think you should be fine as long as you dont drink any of the tap water. Good Luck
