HELP! WHO IS A VET????
Girls.... I need help with this one.
My dog has been acting very differently the past 2 days. He does not seem sick but I know something is wrong. He is just not himself. Every day when I come home from work he comes running to me with his cute little tail wagging....he is such a happy little boy. We have a very strong bond... I really think he thinks I'm his Mom. He is always sitting on me and he is always around me.
The past 2 days he has been very different.... hes showing little to no emotion at all. When I came home he didn't even get out of his cage. Hes really weird... When I put his food out he didn't run to it like he normally does....when I left the room, then he ate it. So I know he's hungry I really think it has something to do with me. Is this possible? That a dog could get upset with their owner. I know this sounds silly but I'm not joking. Its like he wants nothing to do with me. There have not been any real changes in my house for at least 4-5 months so I cant figure this out. I made an appointment with the Vet for Monday. They said they are not sure what it is...but If I'm really worried I should bring him in today. Of course I'm really worried but it doesnt seem like he is sick. My Mom thinks I should wait till monday to see if he gets better. I don't know what to do. Has this happened to anyone?

Re: HELP! WHO IS A VET????
Hey there - sorry to hear about your baby - assuming you already went to the vet, how did it go?
How old is your dog, breed? What vet do you use or are you using now?

Re: HELP! WHO IS A VET????
Thanks for asking!
Yes, I went to the vet and they said that my dog has a bad back. And that it might go away... if not he could be paralyzed and need surgery. They gave him a cortisone shot and sent me home with a 2 week supply of prednisone... He was totally fine again until I needed to lower his dose. Now he's on his last pill and I can see he's hurting again... So I made another appointment today to bring him again. He's 8 years old and he is a chihuahua.

Re: HELP! WHO IS A VET????
Oh wow...that stinks, I'm glad to hear that he at least got a little bit better.
If you need to go to a specialist for orthopedis I would recommend the Specialized Center for Veterinary Care. We brought our little guys for everything specialized. One for cancer unfortunately, the other for dermatology and endocrinology. they have a great ortho/medicine team there and even physical therapy - all not cheap but very worth it :)
Good luck! Michele

Re: HELP! WHO IS A VET????
Aww, I have a chihuahua too and FH and I love her so much. Chihauhuas are funny though, if something is bothering them (at least in my experience with her and my sister's) they have no problem keeping to themselves. She will just decide she wants to go lay off by herself sometimes and we too have a special bond (she is laying across my lap as we speak, so my laptop is teetering on my knees!) but she gets in those moods. Don't take it personally, dogs don't hold grudges!! Sometimes if she seems depressed we try to take her out more or pay more attention but generally dogs act like that when they're not feeling well. Even the sweetest happiest dogs who couldn't love you more! So just try to make your baby comfortable and they'll come around.

Thats exactly right! He is starting to feel better. He is still on a low dose of pills. I have to take him back in 2 weeks for the dr. to look at him again. When we went his back was still in pain. I'm praying that this goes away! I dont even want to think about it not healing!
