Re: Aruba suggestions????
You are going to love it!!! I highly recommend the kuku kunuku bus (i have no idea how to spell it!) It is a lot of fun. Also, go on the jeep tour to the natural pool (amazing!!) and bridge. There is also a party cruise that I would not do for a honeymoon. It was fun but nothing you prob would want for this type of vaca. There is a steakhouse out there I forgot the name that is suppose to be awesome. We didnt go b/c we had AI at our hotel. Flying fish is another restaurant I heard good things about. Hope that helps...I went 3 yrs ago and I LOVED ARUBA!!

Re: Aruba suggestions????
im going in december for my HM - we are also staying at the surf club - we havent been there but heard its really nice and there is lots to do - i hope its not crowded in december though! when my FILS stayed at the marriot in late sept they said the beach and pools were empty but ive read some marriot reviews that said it so packed you couldnt get a seat by the pool or hut on the beach - so im hoping its quiet when we go there!

Re: Aruba suggestions????
I actually got engaged in Aruba this June so I have nothing but wonderful things to say.. I actually stayed at the Renaissance Marina hotel which is amazing but I realize you already have a place. You should definitely check out the steakhouse there called LG Smith's. It is out of this world. But not cheap. (We had a meal plan at the hotel.)
You should also try to head down to the Renaissance Ocean Suites Mall one morning and go to the Dutch Pancake House. This was not included in our meal plan but was so good we went there twice!!!
As far as things to do, we did a beginners scuba diving lesson at Red Sail Sports. It is very worth the half day to do it, if you are interested. Also, just wandering around the high rise hotel beach area, you will find tons of great beach bars and actvities.
If you have any questions, feel free to FM me

Re: Aruba suggestions????
I just came back and we stayed @ The Hyatt. It was amazing..the island was clean, safe, the people were nice and well educated so there was no begging for money like you get in Jamaica and Dominican.
I would SOOOOO recommend the Sunset Dinner cruise through Red Sail Sports..it was so beautiful. If you are feeling adventerous rent TOMCARs instead of jeeps to tour the Island and see the sights it was so so so fun and we kept running into people who rented Jeeps and they were very jealous!!
I have to say I am a very picky eater and the food there was fantastic...just don't fall into the chains they build up like the meat place Amazonia. We ate @ Gianni's across from the Riu and it was amazing Italian. For Seafood do Aqua Grill. Breakfast Salt and Peppers. Also, even if you are not staying @ the Hyatt they have a restuarant called Ruins del MAr and it was so pretty and romantic not to mention highly rated by Zagats.
And brings lots of spending $$$ they have good shopping downtown thats tax and duty free..I'm talking Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Bvlgari and a very extensive "diamond district " set and loose!!!
Have fun and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Aruba suggestions????
aruba is amazing! THe night life isn't as crazy as some other islands, buts its so relaxing! Theres a booze cruise, a booze bus that takes you around the town at night to all the bars. Jeep tours, jet skiing, snorking.

Re: Aruba suggestions????
i would also take the kuku kunuku bus! a lot of fun!! also, if you want to go into the downtown part of aruba for shopping, there is a bus that runs from the high rise hotel section that costs like 2 bucks (i forget exactly) instead of wasting the money on a cab.
we ate at texas de brazil which was by the hotels, good food but FH couldn't eat anymore meat after that lol...
aruba was beautiful! i hope to go back someday! :)

Re: Aruba suggestions????
I just got back yesterday!! It was awesome!!! I will suggest for a good steak go to El Gucho it is a little expensive but sooooooooooooooo worth it. We did a timeshare tour and got a $150 gift cert for it. Our dinner came to $150.99 this was because I insisted to get a large pitcher of Sangria. Another awesome restaurant was Madame Jeanette's & Chalet Swiss (they just closed last week for a few weeks vacation). Oh yeah and Gianni's Italian was great!
Daniel's steak house don't waste your money it wasn't good at all. Neiter was Yemanji Grill.
I would def say do the Ku Ku Konuko (the drunk bus) we had a blast doing it. I had so much fun that night I slept in the bathroom
When you check in ask for a cab price list. They do charge you all diff prices. No ride was less than $8 and no more than $11. I will see if I still have mine. We got it when we were checking out. But for the most part you are in the High Rise area there are things to do there and places to eat. We were in the low rise and had to cab it everywhere. We spent about $500 in cabs and tips.
When you land they will give you a bag full of things to do. Make sure that you go through that and use their ads when you book things because they are all discounted things. Also, the cab drivers have all kinds of things too so be sure to ask!
Feel free to FM me for more details!

Re: Aruba suggestions????
Yes, you do need reservations. I was told by "Mamma" that Thursday and Fridays are the best nights. You can usually have your hotel make the reservations for you.

I think they have them like twice a week Chrissy. Concierge at your hotel can make all the reservations for you! We didn't call anywhere, we just went to the desk everyday/morning and they did everything for us from restaurant reservations to all the excursions and tours!

Re: Aruba suggestions????
I'm so jealous! Aruba is amazing~!! you're going to have so much fun...for partying..go on the kuku konuku bus (just stay with the group bc if u leave the bar its not the best of areas). Also on the other side of the island theres a place called black hog if ur into bar type places. Jewlery shopping is great down there, you can get some really great deals. For lunch,..stop in smokey joes they gave great margheritas and chicken dishes. If you plan on going snorkeling there is a wooden sailboat (i forget the name of the boat).. but u cant miss it...it takes you to 3 snorkel sites 2 in shallow water and another in about 70 ft of water where you can see a sunken ship. In addition there is horseback riding which i do not recommend unless u are really adventurous..the horses go over a rocky mountain that overlooks the natural bridge.
